Gender and Authenticity: Speaking the Truth in Love

A striking 67% of Gen Z young adult women report feeling unable to express what they believe is their true self. This statistic is more than just a number—it's a cry for help, a signal that many are navigating confusion, societal pressure, and spiritual disconnection in silence.

As followers of Christ, we are not called to sit idly by. We are called to speak—not with judgment, but with truth and always in love.

“That we henceforth are no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness… But speaking the truth in love may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:14-15 (KJV)

This generation is being tossed by waves of cultural trends and ideologies that promise freedom but often deliver more profound confusion. Identity is sacred. Yet, it's treated like a costume—changeable, disposable, and defined by emotion rather than truth.

But Scripture tells us clearly:

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
— Genesis 1:27 (KJV)

God’s design is intentional, beautiful, and unchanging. Being male or female is not a limitation—it’s a declaration of God’s creativity and purpose. People have value, not because of how they feel about themselves on a given day, but because they are made in His image.

To the young women of Gen Z: You are not alone. Your struggle is real, and your voice matters. But you don’t have to bear the weight of discovering who you are apart from your Creator. You were made intentionally, beautifully, and for a purpose far beyond fleeting trends.

Let us commit to listening without fear, loving without compromise, and sharing the truth that restores rather than wounds. May we be a generation that helps others walk boldly in who Jesus made them be?
